Principal’s Welcome

I am delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you to The Secretary College. This welcome extends to all our students, who come from a diverse range of countries, backgrounds, cultures and faiths.

Since our founding in 1999 we have placed our students at the heart of all that we do.

The Secretary College offers an environment we think will make your student experience quite special. The uniqueness of the Secretary College is that it is a leading further education college that also owns a number of associated businesses. Four residential care homes, a Nursing and Home Care Agency and a personnel recruitment agency provide valuable work experience for most of the courses, especially Health & Social Care and Business Administration.

Additionally, a letting and estate agency, a student hostel, an education bookshop, an internet café, a secretarial and office services company, and a law practice (specialising in immigration law) not only provide work experience, but can assist students to secure employment.

We also have agencies and satellite offices abroad.

We appreciate that moving to and studying in another country can be daunting. To make this process easier, and enable students to integrate into British society, we assist in the practical needs such as opening a bank account, finding accommodation, and recognising needs in relation to religion.

Our fully qualified and experienced staff are passionate about their specialist subjects - some have been at the College since it was first established. Through them we will give you the skills, knowledge, experience and support you need to reach your full potential. In return we want you to be imaginative, ask questions, get involved and succeed.

We care deeply about each of our students and ensure that every individual gets the assistance they need to fully benefit from their experience at The Secretary, and fulfils their potential in their chosen field.

We are an organisation with values and a dedication to learning and teaching. Our belief is that education is the foundation of future success. In this regard my personal experience as Principal may be of interest. I am an example of a poor person who came to England with £10.00 in his pocket. Both my parents were illiterate. I lost my father at the 5 years of age. On arrival initially I slept on the streets for two weeks, but through a combination of work and education have become a highly successful entrepreneur.

We all have potential. The Secretary College aims to give you a student experience that will positively shape the rest of your life.
